Infant Programs

The first three years of life have proven to be critical in setting the foundation for later development.  The very youngest at our YMCA Child Learning Center have a special need for high quality programs and well trained staff.  Infants need close relationships with a small number of caring people in a safe and predictable setting.  The YMCA Child Learning Center offers this nuturing in an environment that best meets the needs of your child.

INFANTS learn to trust their world and to actively explore their enviornment.  Our staff develop an individualized schedule for your child based on their own specific needs and your family's preferences.  We plan individual activities and exchanges with your infant every day, centering on daily routines such as morning and evening transitions, diapering, feeding, napping, and sensory-motor play.  Our infant program includes

  • Low 1:3 teacher-child ratio
  • Baby Sign Language to enhance communication and speech development
  • Tummy-time and buggy rides
  • Teaching Strategies:  Creative Curriculum
  • Daily communication sheets about your child's day

WADDLERS or mobile infants, benefit from an environment where they can explore and utilize newly acquired motor skills.  Our classroom and activities are specially designed for the safety and mobility of this age group.  Flexible invidualized care and group activities transition your infant into the toddler years.

  • Low 1:4 teacher-child ratios
  • Learning based activity areas
  • Weekly gym time
  • Age-appropriate outdoor play area
  • Daily communicaiton sheets about your child's day
