The Hunterdon County YMCA will be
continuing its tradition of instruction in
the style of American Isshinryu karate.
We are extremely please to introduce our
new Marital Arts Coordinator Sensei Jack
Atwell.
Mr. Atwell is an Eighth Degree Black Belt in American Isshinryu Karate. He has
trained under Grand Master Ernie Temple for 35 years. He has been teaching
American Isshinryu for 32 years and has
developed many very successful martial artists.
In 2012 Sensei Atwell was recognized by the American Okanawan Karate Association Hall of Fame and was honored with the “Man of the Year Award”. Additionally, in 2009 the International Association of Martial Artists recognized Sensei Atwell with the “Master Instructor of Isshinryu Karate Award”. Furthermore, in 2007 he was honored with the “Silver Life Achievement Award”.
We will be continuing to offering
programs for children ages 5 year old and
up. We will also continue to offer Brown
and Black Belt training along with adult
martial arts class. During this transition
process we are reviewing the current
structure and looking to enhance the
martial arts experience at the YMCA.
