Water Exercise Classes

Water workouts are an excellent form of exercise for people of all ages, fitness levels and swimming abilities.  Water offers 12 times the resistance of air, which helps improve muscle strength while being easy on the joints. Other benefits include improved cardiovascular performance and increased flexibility.  The Y offers a variety of deep and shallow water classes which are free with a full YMCA membership.


Lifeguard Certification Classes

The Hunterdon County YMCA offers the Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification which includes certifications in First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer with Oxygen and AED and Lifeguarding.   Lifeguard Challenge classes are also offered for those currently certified who wish to be recertified without taking the class over again. Students must be 15 years old by the end of the last day of class to take this course.


Adult Instructional Swim Classes

Swim lessons are available for adults of all ages and levels including non-swimmers through triatheletes.  Our experienced instructors know how to reach the most timid adult and motivate and instruct those wishing to swim for fitness or sport.


SWIM Inc (Specialized Water Interest Movement)

Held at the Deer Path YMCA, this water exercise class and support group is for adults with physical disabilities.  Adults with muscular problems such as multiple sclerosis, post stroke, arthritis, etc. are encouraged to attend.  One hour of pool time is followed by a social hour with refreshments.September through June, Fridays: 9:45-10:45am; social hour until 12:00. To register call Charlene Griffith 908-995 2758, griffithcb@hotmail.com
