From Carmen – Tips to Avoid Injury

 In HCYHealthy

We’re always on the lookout for preventing injury, especially in our workouts. Here are three tips adapted from Musclesandfitness.com. Put these helpful tips into practice to ensure you have a safe and effective workout.

  1. Poor exercise technique:  This is the most common reason for injury. Become a technical perfectionist and know when your form is comprised. When it is, it’s time to STOP.
  2. Too much weight: What’s too much?  If you find yourself not being in control of the movement — unable to control the downward movement, or jerking or heaving to lift the weight, these are all indicators that the weight is too heavy. Lighten the load a bit.
  3. Inadequate warmup: Warm muscles are more pliable and elastic. Cold muscles are stiff.  Use high-rep, low intensity, quick paced exercise movements to increase your core temperature and the blood flow to your muscles. Warm those muscles up before every workout.
