For all the avid outdoor fitness people who enjoy being out in the elements to bike, hike, run, or ski; review the forecast before you head out and check out these cold weather tips from the Mayo Clinic:

  1. Layer up:  Dress in layers with a moisture wicking layer next to your skin. As your body heats up, remove excess layers.

 

  1. Protect your head, hands, feet, and ears: Keep your extremities warm as blood flow in cold weather will be concentrated on the core. Know the signs of frostbite and hypothermia.

 

  1. Hydration: Hydrating is just as important in cold weather as it is in warm temperatures. Your body can become dehydrated from sweating, breathing, and drying winds.
