Erika’s Post – Frozen?

 In HCYHealthy

The winter months are upon us and you may have noticed that foods in the produce section of the grocery store are not so great looking. They’re also expensive and often limited in variety. Well, don’t forget about the freezer section of the grocery store!

Frozen foods are convenient, long-lasting, and can be just as healthy as fresh. This time of year, frozen produce is often less expensive than fresh.

Frozen fruit and berries can be blended into smoothies or used as a yogurt topping.

Frozen vegetables are great and don’t need to be microwaved into soggy mush. Try roasting them! Click here for some of my favorite roasting tips.

When purchasing frozen meals, look for less than 600 mg of sodium, at least 15 grams of protein, and 5 grams of fiber per serving.

Happy eating!
