As we continue to celebrate Healthy Heart month in February, let’s focus on:  Exercise. Specifically, aerobic exercise which improves cardiac endurance and heart function.

A healthy cardio exercise program may have the following benefits for you:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Better weight control
  • Lower stress levels
  • Less inflammation
  • Increased strength

Here are a few questions I am frequently asked in my role as a personal trainer and Fitness and Wellness Coordinator:

How much exercise do I need to do weekly?

The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week.  If 150 minutes a week seems daunting, then simply move more today than yesterday.

Do I have to exercise for 30 minutes all at one time or can I break it up?

Little by little our small lifestyle changes add up to big improvements in our health.
