Carmen’s Post – Inflammation & Diet
As our focus is on Inflammation for the month of March, we know Acute Inflammation can be good, as it is the body’s natural response to healing. Chronic Inflammation, on the other hand, if not recognized and reversed can lead to cancer, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, depression, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, allergies and other serious conditions. In addition to less stress and more exercise in our lives to help combat inflammation, we can choose certain foods that are anti-inflammatory to help alleviate inflammation in the body. An anti-inflammatory diet consists of: fruits and green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, fatty fish, lean protein, olive oil, and healthy fats. Regardless of whether you suffer from acute or chronic inflammation, we can all benefit from a healthy and nutritious diet with less refined carbohydrates and processed foods.
