Carmen’s Post – Watermelon
Watermelon season is upon us! With Fouth of July festivities approaching and the incredible heat temps we have been experiencing, there is not a better time to enjoy this healthy food. Watermelon is a great food for hydration and electrolyte replacement since it is composed of 92% water. It is packed with nutrients B6, B1, Magnesium and Potassium which convert calories to energy. I would love to tell you how to pick the perfect watermelon from the store, but this Iowa farm-raised girl is still practicing that skill! The method to my madness: give it a good thump and listen for hollowness. You’ve got a 50-50 chance, but when you get it right, there’s nothing better then chilled cubed watermelon!
