SOUTH CAMP

Located at South Hunterdon High School, Lambertville | Ages 5-12 years old

South Camp is a fun day camp experience for children ages 5-12. Campers are grouped according to age. The daily schedule for each camp group includes arts and crafts, character development, sports and games, weekly special theme events and electives. Campers enjoy swimming at the Nockamixon Pools in Pennsylvania.  Field trips and swim trips are included. Each weekly session includes one swim day and one field trip.

All sessions are one week options. Session weeks begin Monday, June 29 and end Friday Aug. 21  (Sessions 2-9). Each week session includes one swim day and one field trip.

Fee per one-week session: Full Members:  $265 Program Members: $300

Please note, May 1: Camp fee increases $20 per session. Register early and save!

Online changes and registrations end 1 week before the beginning of each session.   In person registrations end at noon the Friday before each session begins.

GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION

  • Sessions: All camps are 1-week sessions
  • Camp Hours: Monday–Friday: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Extended Care Opportunities – Extended care is a supervised recreation program available for all full day camp programs. Daily or hourly rates are not available, and the parent must provide transportation. Extended care options include morning care from 7:15 a.m.–9 a.m. and afternoon care from 4 p.m.–6 p.m.
  • Bus Transportation – Transportation by bus is available for students attending both Camp Carr and Sports Camp for sessions 2-9
  • Sibling Discount – $15 per session. Please note, discount will be applied by our billing department, after registration
  • Financial Assistance – The Hunterdon County YMCA is a non-profit United Way agency dedicated to serving all local residents. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants.

South Camp Specialty Camps

SOCCER CAMP

Ages 6-13 years old • June 29-July 3 (Session 2)
Perfect your game, learn new skills and have fun at the Y’s Soccer Day Camp! Camp focuses on developing skills, learning the importance of teamwork, and practicing good sportsmanship. Daily drills and mini competitions ensure skill development, team building exercises, swimming, and games promote the development of the whole athlete. Campers will spend half the day participating in soccer camp and the other half of the day campers will engage in South Camp activities.

BASKETBALL CAMP

Ages 6-13 years old • August 10 – August 14 (Session 8)
This fast and exciting camp is for boys and girls of all skill levels. Campers will learn fundamental skills in the areas of shooting, rebounding, defense, and game strategy. The players will have a chance to test their skills playing in games and tournaments. Basketball Camp is a fun training camp with the strongest emphasis on being a good sport and learning the game of basketball. Each day, the morning will be spent at the learning skills in basketball camp after lunch campers will enjoy the activities of South Camp for sports, games, and fun.

Construction Camp

Ages 4-10 years old • July  6 – July 10 (Session 3)
A variety of inventive projects will be created throughout the week to allow campers to practice their engineering and design skill.  Campers will transform ordinary objects such as cardboard, craft sticks, legos, and duct tape while overseeing their own construction projects and discovering the world of design and development.  Each week will have its own major construction project.  The construction portion of the day will take place in the morning and in the afternoon campers will engage in South Camp activities. NERF CAMP

Ages 7-13 years old | July 13-July 17 (Session 4)
The fun never ends in NERF camp. Join us for an action packed week of NERF!  Campers will develop team work, problem solving, sportsmanship, and put strategy into practice through games of NERF tag, challenges, and scenarios. The YMCA provides the space, obstacles, coordination, supervision, and FUN!  YMCA provides NERF blasters, darts, equipment, and safety goggles. The NERF portion of the camp will be held during the morning. The afternoon will be spent engaged in South Camp activities.

Wizarding Academy

Ages 6-13 years old | July 20-July 24 (Session 5)
Campers will experience the wonders of wizarding through activities inspired by popular book series.  Park your brooms at the door while you brew potions, play quittich, and mix imagination, science, and adventure.  Each week will have its own series of inspired ‘classes’, themes, and mystery for the group to solve.  Groups will be divided for age appropriate activities.  A great opportunity to foster the interests, energy, and creativity of campers.

Archery Tag Camp

Ages 8-13 years old | July 27-July 31 (Session 6)
Introducing the fast growing sport of archery tag!  Archery tag combines the excitement of dodgeball and paintball with the skill sets of archery with patent foam tipped arrows.  Unlike other sports, the only safety equipment needed for archery tag is a face mask.  All equipment is provided by the YMCA.  Players experience virtually no paint when tagged by foam tipped arrows.  Team building and problem solving will be practiced through various games of tag, archery golf, and other challenges.  Join the fun campers will be talking about!

Artful Discovery Camp

Ages 4-10 years old • August 3 – August 7 (Session 7)
Campers will unlock their imagination through a world of artful discovery.  During this week campers will use different art mediums to expand their imaginations.  They will create their own art, and they will be innovators through S.T.E.A.M. learning.  Throughout the week campers will share their projects through an ongoing art show.  Y Members and fellow campers will be able to enjoy our young art masters creations.  If your camper loves to create and discover through hands-on exploration then this is the camp for them.Campers will spend the morning working on art and the afternoon will be spent playing sports, games, and swimming.
