Sports Camp is the perfect camp for the child who wants a little bit of everything when it comes to sports. This camp is led by a dynamic enthusiastic staff that personally loves sports. They will share their love of sports with each camper. At Sports Camp, campers will enjoy participating in a wide array of sports including soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey and more. In addition to traditional sports, each day will introduce a new sport or game that will be shared in an exciting, innovative way.

Please note, May 1, 2019: Camp fee increases $20 per session. Register early and save!

Online changes and registrations end 1 week before the beginning of each session.   In person registrations end at noon the Friday before each session begins.

GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION

  • Sessions: All camps are 1-week sessions
  • Camp Hours: Monday–Friday: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Extended Care Opportunities – Extended care is a supervised recreation program available for all full day camp programs. Daily or hourly rates are not available, and the parent must provide transportation. Extended care options include morning care from 7:15 a.m.–9 a.m. and afternoon care from 4 p.m.–6 p.m.
  • Bus Transportation – Transportation by bus is available for students attending both Camp Carr and Sports Camp for sessions 2-9
  • Sibling Discount – $15 per session. Please note, discount will be applied by our billing department, after registration
  • Financial Assistance – The Hunterdon County YMCA is a non-profit United Way agency dedicated to serving all local residents. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants.
  • Online account for Snack Bar Cards at Camp Carr & Sports Camp -  create an account at FunFangle.    From here you can add funds and check balances.

Specialty Camps

Super Hero Camp

Ages 4 – 6 years old
June 17-June 21 (Session 1) •  July 22 – July 26 (Session 6)
Participants will take on a secret super hero identity in this camp and discover their own personal super hero powers.  Their imagination will take flight serving and protecting the good citizens of the Hunterdon County YMCA.  When our campers put on their mask, cape and costume they will become amazing super heroes that use special tools, maneuvers and skills to solve crimes and a protect camp.  They HCY will never be safer than during this week.  The super hero portion of  camp will be held during the morning and the afternoon will be spent engaged in Sports Camp activities which include swimming, sports and games, and other daily special activities.Full Members: $275               Program Members: $325

NINJA WARRIOR CAMP

Ages 6 – 9 years old • June 17-June 21 (Session 1)
July 15 – July 19 (Session 5) • August 12-August 16 (Session 9)
For adventurous boys and girls looking for a week filled with obstacle course training, relays, and gymnastics.  Campers will crawl, climb, sprint, and jump through multiple energetic activities. This camp will teach confidence, discipline, impulse control, and teamwork.  The Ninja Warrior portion of the camp will be held during the morning and the afternoon will be spent engaged in Sports Camp activities which include swimming, sports and games, and other daily special activities.Full Members: $275               Program Members: $325

NERF CAMP

Ages 7-12 years old
June 24-June 28 (Session 2) • July 29 – August 2 (Session 7)
The fun never ends in NERF camp. Join us for an action packed week of NERF!  Campers will develop team work, problem solving, sportsmanship, and put strategy into practice through games of NERF tag, challenges, and scenarios. The YMCA provides the space, obstacles, coordination, supervision, and FUN!  YMCA provides NERF blasters, darts, equipment, and safety goggles. The NERF portion of the camp will be held during the morning. The afternoon will be spent engaged in Sports Camp activities which include swimming, sports and games, and other daily special activities. Full Members: $275               Program Members: $325

EXTREME SPORTS

Ages 7-12 years old • August 19-August 23 (Session 10)
This exciting camp will keep campers on the tips of their toes all day long. Campers will engage in a variety of extreme sports. Each day will focus on 2-3 specific Extreme Sport games culminating with an Extreme Sports Challenge on the last day of the session. Sports included through the session will be Ultimate Frisbee, NERF Tag, Archery Tag, Pillow Polo, Floor Hockey, and more! Campers will spend half the day playing Extreme Sports and the remaining portion of the day will include participation in Sports Camp games and activities including swimming. Archery Tag Camp

Ages 10-13 years old
June 17-June 21 (Session 1) | July 8-July 12 (Session 4)
August 5 – August 9 (Session 8)
Introducing the fast growing sport of archery tag!  Archery tag combines the excitement of dodgeball and paintball with the skill sets of archery with patent foam tipped arrows.  Unlike other sports, the only safety equipment needed for archery tag is a face mask.  All equipment is provided by the YMCA.  Players experience virtually no paint when tagged by foam tipped arrows.  Team building and problem solving will be practiced through various games of tag, archery golf, and other challenges.  Join the fun campers will be talking about!

BASEBALL CAMP

Ages 5-9 years old
July 15 – July 19 (Session 5) • August 12-August 16 (Session 9)
This exciting camp for boys and girls of all levels will help introduce and refine young slugger’s fundamental skills of the game; including throwing, catching, hitting and running the bases.  This camp will help each camper develop their skills and understand the rules of the game.  Campers will receive detailed instruction on the skills of the game, as well as the rules, teamwork and sportsmanship.  Campers will spend half the day learning baseball skills and playing organized baseball games.  The remaining portion of the day will include participation in Sports Camp games and activities including swimming. Full Members: $250 Program Members: $300

FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP

Ages 6 -9 years old • July 29 – August 2 (Session 7)
This camp is for boys and girls of all skill levels. Campers will learn the fundamental skills of offense, defense and the rules of Flag Football. Campers will get detailed instruction on individual techniques as well as team offensive and defensive plays. Campers will spend half of the day learning skills and playing Flag Football games. The remaining portion of the day will include participation in Sports Camp games and activities including swimming. Full Members: $250 Program Members: $300

SOCCER CAMP

Ages 6-13 years old • August 5 – August 9 (Session 8)
Perfect your game, learn new skills and have fun at the Y’s Soccer Day Camp! Camp focuses on developing skills, learning the importance of teamwork, and practicing good sportsmanship. Daily drills and mini competitions ensure skill development, team building exercises, swimming, and games promote the development of the whole athlete. Campers will spend half the day participating in soccer camp and the other half of the day swimming and playing a variety of sports and games.

First Play Golf Camp

Ages 6-10 years old
June 24-June 28 (Session 2) • July 8-July 12 (Session 4)
Children will experience greater success by using larger golf balls and oversized golf club heads; enabling children to strike the golf ball more easily and consistently. They will also receive personalized attention from our coaches, who will be able to guide them and improve the children’s techniques in an active and energetic environment. Through the exciting games and challenges, a child will increase in confidence and develop a positive attitude towards the game. All programs will emphasize the rules of  golf, and teach the children how to play in a safe environment while being respectful to others. Campers will spend the morning working on their golf game with experienced staff from US Sports Institute and the afternoon will be spent playing sports, games, swimming and other fun activities!

LACROSSE CAMP

Ages 6-14 years old • July 22-July 26 (Session 6)
Have great fun learning this exhilarating game with US Sports Institute professional sports educators. Fast paced and full of action, lacrosse is a unique combination of skill, speed, agility and finesse. The USSI Lacrosse Camp is open to boys and girls of all abilities and no previous lacrosse experience is necessary. This is a non-contact skill building camp. Lacrosse sticks are provided although campers are welcome to bring their own sticks. Focus will be on stick handling, passing, scooping, dodging, shooting and many more fundamental techniques and skills. This camp offers an ideal introduction for all levels. Campers will spend half the day playing lacrosse and the other half of the day swimming and playing a variety sports.Full  Member:    $345                       Program  Member:  $390

Construction Camp

Ages 4-7 years old • June 24-June 28 (Session 2)
A variety of inventive projects will be created throughout the week to allow campers to practice their engineering and design skill.  Campers will transform ordinary objects such as cardboard, craft sticks, legos, and duct tape while overseeing their own construction projects and discovering the world of design and development.  Each week will have its own major construction project.  The construction portion of the day will take place in the morning and the afternoon spend engaging in Sports Camp activities which include swimming, sports and games, and other daily special activities.

Artful Discovery Camp

Ages 4-7 years old •  August 5 – August 9 (Session 8)
Campers will unlock their imagination through a world of artful discovery.  What is art?  What is art made of?  Where does it come from?  During this week campers will use different art mediums to expand their imaginations.  They will create their own art, and they will be innovators through S.T.E.A.M. learning.  Throughout the week campers will share their projects through an ongoing art show.  Y Members and fellow campers will be able to enjoy our young art masters creations.  If your camper loves to create and discover through hands-on exploration then this is the camp for them. Campers will spend the morning working on art and the afternoon will be spent playing sports, games, and swimming. Full Members: $275               Program Members: $325

Wizarding Academy

Ages 6-12 years old | July 1-July 5 (Session 3)*
July 8-July 12 (Session 4)| July 22-July 26 (Session 6)
Campers will experience the wonders of wizarding through activities inspired by popular book series.  Park your brooms at the door while you brew potions, play quittich, and mix imagination, science, and adventure.  Each week will have its own series of inspired ‘classes’, themes, and mystery for the group to solve.  Groups will be divided for age appropriate activities.  A great opportunity to foster the interests, energy, and creativity of campers. Princess Ballerina Camp

Ages 3-5 years old • June 24-June 28 (Session 2)
Campers here is your chance to be a Princess for a week!  We will learn ballet and creative movement and enjoy stories and crafts about Ariel, Belle, and more! Each day ends with a tea party. Full Members: $250 Program Members: $300

Ballet Camp

Ages 5-7 years old
July 15 – July 19 (Session 5) • August 12-August 16(Session 9)
Campers will twirl, leap, and learn all about ballet! In addition to learning basic ballet, campers will learn about the great ballets, such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella!  Each day will involve dance instruction, stories, crafts, and dance activities.  Attire for dance portion of the day is ballet slippers and a leotard.

Discover Dance

Ages 8-11 years old • July 29 – August 2 (Session 7)
Discover dance this summer at the YMCA.  Campers will learn about the beauty of ballet, the culture of Hip-Hop, the rhythms of tap, and joy of Jazz! Each day will involve dance instruction, crafts and dance activities.  Join us for this fun week of dance! Full Members: $250  Program Members: $300

Summer Stretch: August 26-29  (Session 11)

Ages 5 to 12 years old
Summer Stretch will be held at the Deer Path Branch. The daily schedule will include, swimming, crafts, sports, and games. Children will be grouped according to age. To participate in this program child must have attended a full session at one of the Hunterdon County YMCA camps during the 2019 season.Full Members: $210      Program Members: $250 AM Care: $32 PM Care:  $34

Bricks 4 Kidz and Team Kids Mash-up

Ages 6-12 years old | August 26-29  (Session 11)
Each day will combine Bricks 4 Kidz camp building activities along with our new program Team Kids which features activity-based learning. Team Kids integrates in STEM learning in a series of games and challenges that develop critical thinking skills, team spirit and leadership. It is team building for elementary grade children. We will include activities from a different Bricks 4 Kidz camp theme each day and often tie those activities with a related Team Kids activity such as Minecraft; build models based on the game, play the game on computers and then participate in Team Kids’ Minecraft interactive games. This is a great way to end the summer. Full Members: $243  Program Members: $292
